Terms of Service
Effective date: [CONFIRM: date of publication] | Last reviewed: [same]
These terms apply to the Tennd app (on the web at app.tenndai.com and on Android) and the tenndai.com website.
The short version
- Tennd is a private space for your family. Use it kindly, and only share what your family is happy to share.
- What you share stays yours. We only use it to run Tennd for your family.
- Tennd is not a medical or emergency service. Reminders are gentle prompts, and the signals in Tennd (like "I'm up") are not a safety alarm. In an emergency, call 999.
- Tennd is new and still growing. Things will change and occasionally go wrong. We'll be honest with you when they do.
- If something isn't right, email support@tenndai.com and a real person will reply.
The rest of these terms explain the detail. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we look after your information.
1. Who we are
Tennd is provided by Tennd AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17415936), with its registered office at [CONFIRM: 20 or 20-22] Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU ("Tennd", "we", "us", "our").
By creating an account, joining a family network or using Tennd, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Tennd.
2. Who can use Tennd
- Tennd is for adults aged 18 and over, for personal and family use.
- [CONFIRM: Tennd is currently available in the United Kingdom only.]
- You must give us accurate information (for example, your real email address) and keep your sign-in email secure. We sign you in with a one-time link or code sent to your email, so anyone with access to your email could get into your account.
3. How family networks work
- Each network is built around one person, the Focus, and the family and friends who support them, the Supporters. One or more Supporters are admins, who can invite people, set up reminders and manage the network.
- Everything shared in a network is visible to all members of that network, and no one else.
- Admins are responsible for who they invite. If you're an admin, please only invite people the Focus would be happy to have in their network.
If you set up Tennd for someone else
Supporters often help an older relative get started. If you set up Tennd for a Focus, you confirm that:
- they understand what Tennd is and are happy to take part, or you have the legal authority to act for them (for example, a Lasting Power of Attorney for health and welfare); and
- you'll respect their wishes, including if they later decide they don't want to use Tennd.
The Focus can contact us directly about their account at any time, whoever set it up.
4. What Tennd is, and what it isn't
Tennd helps families stay in touch: Quick Connect, messages, video calls, reminders, a shared family garden, and Tennd Stories.
Tennd is not a medical device, a care service or an emergency service. In particular:
- Reminders are prompts, not medication management. Tennd shows a reminder and records whether it was confirmed. It doesn't check whether medication was actually taken, and it doesn't give medical advice. [CONFIRM: align with the SaMD Class I position and approved copy list.]
- Signals like "I'm up", "last seen" and the family garden are informational. They depend on the app being opened, devices being charged and connected, and our systems working. They are not a safety alarm or monitoring service, and they mustn't be relied on to tell you someone is safe.
- Notifications and calls can be delayed or missed, for example if a phone is off, the app is closed, or there's a network problem.
- Tennd doesn't replace care, contact or professional advice. If you're worried about someone's health or safety, contact them directly, their GP, NHS 111, or emergency services. In an emergency, call 999.
5. Your content
"Your content" means anything you share in Tennd: messages, photos, videos, voice notes, Quick Connect posts, story answers, stories, reactions and reminders.
- You keep ownership of your content. We don't claim it.
- You give us permission to use it only to run Tennd for your network: to store it, show it to the members of your network, process it (for example, turning a voice answer into text, or a set of answers into a story), back it up, and keep the service secure. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we must keep for legal reasons or that remain for a short time in backups.
- Shared family stories. Stories often involve several family members. A story belongs to the network it was created in. If you leave a network or delete your account, stories you created stay with the family unless you ask us to remove specific items. [CONFIRM: decision SM-2]
- Your responsibilities. Only share content you have the right to share, and think about the people in it, including those who aren't Tennd users. Don't share someone else's private information, photos or recordings if they wouldn't want you to.
- Keep copies of anything irreplaceable. We take care of your content, but Tennd is a young service and no system is perfect. Please keep your own copies of original photos and anything you couldn't bear to lose.
6. AI features
Some Tennd features use AI. For example, they suggest a nudge to get in touch, write a weekly family digest, ask a follow-up question in Stories, turn story answers into a written story, transcribe voice answers, and read stories aloud.
- AI can get things wrong. Please read AI-written content before relying on it or sharing it, and edit it if something isn't right. AI-written stories are based only on what your family has said, but they can still misunderstand or misremember a detail.
- We don't train AI on your family's content unless you give separate, explicit, opt-in permission. See the Privacy Policy.
- No impersonation. Tennd's AI never pretends to be a member of your family, living or deceased.
7. Using Tennd fairly
Please don't:
- use Tennd to harass, threaten, deceive, exploit or control anyone, including the person at the centre of a network
- share content that's illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights
- try to access a network, account or data you're not entitled to, or interfere with Tennd's security or systems
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer Tennd, or use automated tools to access it, except as the law allows
- use Tennd for business or commercial purposes without our written agreement.
If you see something that worries you, especially anything that suggests a vulnerable person is being harmed, please contact us at support@tenndai.com.
8. Video calls and guests
- We don't record video calls. [CONFIRM: recording is off in Daily.co]
- Group-call guests who join by invitation link don't need an account, but these terms still apply to how they use the call.
9. Other services and archive content
- Tennd relies on other providers to work (for example, hosting, video calling and AI). They're listed in the Privacy Policy.
- Historical photos suggested for stories come from public archives such as Europeana, under their own licences. We show the source and attribution with each photo, and they're only added to a story if your family approves them.
10. Prices
- Tennd is currently free to use. [CONFIRM: true for the alpha and launch period]
- In future, some features (for example, premium Stories) may be part of a paid plan. We'll never charge you without your clear agreement first. Before any paid plan starts, we'll tell you the price and what's included, and you'll have the cancellation rights the law gives you, including a 14-day cooling-off period where it applies. Separate subscription terms will apply at that point.
11. Changes to Tennd and to these terms
- Tennd is growing. We'll add, change and sometimes remove features. If we remove something important to you, we'll try to give you notice and, where we can, a way to download your content first.
- We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Tennd and close your account.
12. Closing your account, and suspension
- You can stop using Tennd and close your account at any time, in the app [CONFIRM: once built] or by emailing support@tenndai.com. What happens to your information is explained in the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe it's being used in a way that breaks these terms, puts someone at risk, or breaks the law. Where it's safe and lawful to do so, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
- If we ever decide to close Tennd entirely, we'll give you at least [CONFIRM: 60] days' notice and a way to download your family's content.
13. Our responsibility to you
- We'll provide Tennd with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong because of us, please tell us and we'll try to put it right.
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
- Because Tennd is for personal and family use, we aren't responsible for business losses (such as loss of profit or business opportunity).
- Tennd may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of problems outside our control. We'll try to keep this to a minimum, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude, including your legal rights as a consumer. For information about your consumer rights, contact Citizens Advice.
14. Disputes and the law that applies
- If you have a complaint, please email support@tenndai.com first. We'll do our best to sort it out quickly.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring proceedings in Scotland, and if you live in Northern Ireland, in Northern Ireland.
